We had a beautiful day. Worship time was a gift as we swayed, sang and clapped with the little ones in the last row. As we sung the words, "He can move the mountains. Our God is mighty to save. He is mighty to save." We were overwhelmed. Gates will celebrate his birthday here two weeks from the day they flew out of China... Father and Son at long last! Awesome Indeed!
We will enjoy a one hour birthday party at a shady park a few blocks away on Gates's birthday Tuesday. There will be cupcakes and a cake baked and decorated by siblings as has been our tradition since the girls were babies. It's so wonderful to seen the intentionality and enthusiasm they put into the cake for their sister or brother. We encourage them to choose the flavor and colors and details. Bridger decided that since Gates very often chooses something yellow gold (like a Tonka or construction yellow) over other colors that he should have a yellow frosting with dump trucks and crushed Oreo dirt on top. I'm going to be searching for construction signs or miniature yellow trucks tomorrow.
Gates loved his first taste of homebaked toll house cookies. He didn't want Mamma to put him down long enough for her to mix them though and it took several passes of the bakers hat before they were finally done. He is very clingy and what is referred to as 'anxious attatched' with me at this point. He cries like his little heart is breaking if I walk out of the room or need to powder my nose or something. We are encouraged with his progress. Our social workers are also pleased.
