The immigration visa for Gates to come to America is in the final phase of it's two year journey through uscis/dhs/statedept/... and on and on and on.
Our I800 is out of the Chicago lockbox facility where it has been since we got LOA and on the desk of the adjudicator's supervisor in Missouri! I was contacted by the officer this morning in response to a request for information that we made yesterday!
It is entirely possible that we could travel as soon as three weeks from now! We are in review process today and if we are approved on the first go 'round then we will hear by Thursday. If they require 'additional evidence' to support our application then we will be hearing that by next week some time. Getting to the 'desk' is a big giant deal!
The steps after this approval is obtained would be as follows. USCIS tells U.S.Consulate with an article 5 that the article 16 is good. U.S.Consulate gives us a CA (consulate appointment) then notifies the China Center for Adoption Affairs in the PRC (People's Republic of China) then they decide when they will issue TA (travel approval). Hang on friends we're nearing the finnish line on this endurance race to Bring Gates Home! I can hear wallets opening all around the city with offerings toward God on Gates's behalf for that KW goal of providing for inside China adoption expenses and domestic China travel. They have 2.600 toward the 5.000, still needed for those! The flight from Ft. Myers to Los Angeles has been covered by donated ff miles. The $2000. plus for round trip tickets from Los Angeles to the PRC for Paul and Gates just got totally checked off with Next Level Church's help. We have to return from Los Angeles to Ft. Myers on Delta that's in the works. It's all just SO exciting isn't it?
We filed the FMLA (family medical leave act) paperwork for the DOL (Dept. of Labor) with Paul's employer to initiate Paul's leave for travel and a week at home to recover and ease Gates in with the rest of us as well as being there for Gates during initial medical evals.
This week is going to be one of little sleep and taking our cell phones to the mailbox with us!
